I was not expecting to see a reference to George Gerbner in a history article. But very appropriate!
It's a good reframe. And now I'm stoic when I dont look at my alerts.
It's too bad because news used to be designed to keep us informed. Now it seems it's designed to keep us obedient
Or, designed to piss us off, make us panic, and click frantically online and buy stuff : )

Two other measures I use to help me not react:
1. Do I have any control over this
2. Does it have any direct impact on my day to day life?
