Nothing is inevitable. Ken McCarthy has a book on the beginning of the internet. What we’re doing here was by no means the path that people set out on. Very few realized that the web was a place for commerce, yet here we are.
Commerce, education, entertainment … all wrapped up in a nice little package. But is the butterfly’s wings flapped in a slightly different pattern, we’d have none of it.
All good stuff here. I’ve never really considered it, but I guess I’m now thankful it was Grant at Appomattox.
In other words, we wouldn’t have a country today if Sherman handed Lee’s surrender.
